I wonder how many votes "Our Hole" grove managed?

Congratulations CedarLight!

The ADF elections are over and you came through in fine style.  We came in second place for the Grove with the most votes in the ADF elections.  We couldn't quite catch Three Cranes, but we did blow past Sassafras, who is third.

Ya'll should be very proud.  We don't get anything for it, and I don't know that anyone else really cares, but it shows that CedarLight has something to say and are active.

(Yes I've been up since before 5 for some reason)

Huzzah to Chelsea for thumbing through all the necessary paperwork to hopefully get us on the Federal Employee charity list :D

To assist with our grove 20K goal, I am submitting our application for this year's Chesapeake Region (Baltimore and Eastern Shore) CFC.  That is the charity that Federal Employees are strongly encouraged to participate in.

Last year we were held up by some documentation but that has all been solved.   :)

The deadline is March 5 and our application will be in the mail this week.  :)

Incidentally, I got this email from our soon to be Arch-Druid regarding our quarterly report:

Indeed it is, I have a friend in a maximum security prison and that's a huge amount for prisoners.

I'm going to have to send them a thank you letter.  Please send me the info (or give it to me next I see you) Caryn :)

And BTW, I forgot to mention it earlier, we got a $5 check from the group in the Coyote Ridge Corrections Center that is trying to form a Druid study group because  of that ad.  Now $5 may not seem like a lot to you and me but to folks in prison, its a lot, a whole lot.

So Hussah Crystal and Hussah CedarLight!

I wanted to randomly mention that I just submitted our quarterly report for Q1 2010, and it's probably the longest (or most filled with new information) that I've ever done for CLG.

Shows how much we are growing as a Grove and how awesome we are :)  You guys should all feel really proud of yourselves.  The amount of work we do for not only the Grove, but in charity work, outreaching, and dedication is something to talk about.

I am so very proud to be a member of this Grove.

We've been getting some notice around ADF the last 2 years, and here is proof that our good work is inspiring others :)

Greetings Crystal,

Chris:)  Here.   I wanted to chat with you about your fundraising if you have a
minute.

Upon opening my OL this month... your ad was the first thing I saw. Reading it
over, I must say I was stunned - not to mention intrigued ...and jealous... lol
.  The first thing I did is call my co-founding grove mate.. to see if she had
gotten hers, and we proceeded to talk about it for some time.  Neither one of us
had ever seen this kind of thing laid out like that before.  I mean I know
various groves do different things... but not to this degree; that I know of
anyway.

At a meeting last night we discussed local charities' and the ones that we all
had a feeling for. Starting in the new year - when we have our Provisional in
place, we are taking a page from your book and starting out.  We have 2
charities to work with so far, and feel that's enough to get our feet wet - and
because we are much smaller than you - so far lol.

So, I wanted to ask -if you have the time and desire- if you could impart some
of your wisdom to us.  How do you guys raise so much items and funds?  Do you
use the public to help raise it - or is it all through the grove?  Do you
require grove members to do certain parts or raise certain funds??   What has
worked for you.... what has not?   Any advice/suggestions you'd want to pass on
to a grove just starting out in this-so we- can learn from your mistakes and
successes?   How have you dealt with Grove members who may not be so interested?
Any advice on creating enthusiasm?  How do you guys have it laid out- is it
part of your bylaws that you do this or just something you do to serve?  etc etc

Thanks in advance for your time and thoughts :)
