Most of the opportunities are not during the school day, so it doesn't work well for the program, but I thought it sounded like something the grove would enjoy. Blue Water Baltimore helps to plant trees, clean up streams and and forests and protect the waterways all over Baltimore 
. They ask people to register for any volunteer work and say they provide tools and training.

Saturday April 6 9:00am - Watershed clean up in the Gwynn Oaks Community - 2720 Gwynnmore Avenue, Gwynn Oak, MD 21207
Wednesday April 3rd 5:30 (training) and Saturday April 6th 11:00am - 3pm (event) - Tree Giveaway station (free native trees and some instructions on growing for native trees for residents of Baltimore City and County only
Station North Tool Library, 417 E Oliver St, Baltimore, MD 21202
Saturday April 13 9:00am - Tree Planting
Sinclair Lane Elementary School, 3880 Sinclair Lane, Baltimore, MD 21213
Saturday April 13 10 - 5 - Polliner Planting
3107 N Charles St, Baltimore, MD 21218
The site seems to have some form of environmental volunteer opportunity almost every weekend, and a few midweek in the evenings
