This passed Sunday, we continued discussion about the practice of Agnihotra.  Was it really practical to do it at exactly Sunrise and Sunset everyday?  Was it better to be late or early, then not do it at all?

According to Agnihotrausa.net:
"There is no latitude of several minutes for agnihotra. Then it is not agnihotra. This is the 'Sandhya' that was always done in the Vedic times as per the Vedas."

According to Altmedicenter.com:
"Performance of Agnihotra before and after these exact timings is of no consequences. Observation of exact sunrise and sunset timings is the most important condition for performing Agnihotra and thereby deriving full benefits from it. "

I found one article that I cannot locate at present that stated if a person was poor or unable to perform daily practice, they should at least perform Agnihotra on holy days. 

within the same article it gave a detailed explanation as to why sunrise and sunset was imperative.  Sunset brings with it cold and darkness which encourages growth of bacteria.  Perform the rite exactly at Sunset it supposed to embody the sun's warmth to spread healing to all throughout the night.  Sunrise would bring about happiness and warmth to start your day.
