Moon Rite for Nyx and the Protogenoi on March 14th, 2015

Hello All!

On March 14th, 2015 I will be leading a Moon Rite honoring some of the deities nearest and dearest to my heart...The Nyx Greek Goddess of Night and her Extended family the Protogenoi!

Who exactly are the Protogenoi?

They are the Gods and Goddesses that preceded the universe of the Greek Olympian Deities.
They are the progenitors, the rawest potentiality and some of the original Peloponnese creators.
The first and most essential of these great eternals is Khaos.

Khaos is, as you may have guessed the Goddess whose name was transformed over the decades to our modern cognate Chaos  but she is so much more than what our modern concept conveys. Khaos  was infinite potential from which all could burst forth.
Khaos is an air deity.

From Khaos came her mate Phanes, also know as Protognos or first born (and from whom all the Protogenoi take their name). Phanes is consideredthe primal progenitor and great father.

Next Khaos bears Nyx, the Greek goddess who embodies night and the primary guest at our rite.

Nyx is the embodiment of Night, mother of Darkness (Erebos) and mother to Daylight (Hemera).

Nyx and Protogenoi Moon Rite (3/14/15) Official Event Outline:
 
·         As per the Greek Deity Festival tradition I would like the Moon Rite to proceed as follows:
 
-          Would like to suggest that all attendees wear only the following colors in honor of our guests: either all White or all Black clothing.
-          Procession with Nyx Representative Statue, and Protogenoi iconography.
-          Musical accompaniment will be played for the procession and will be setting an initial calm and meditative tone.
-          Recite the Well, Fire, Tree and Earth chant provided below as a centering and grounding exercise:
 
Earth, Fire, Well, & Tree Chant
 
This is the earth which gives unto us,
This the well that inspiration births,
This is tree at the center of all worlds,
This is the fire ablaze within our souls!
 
Together they are one,
Together they are us,
Each a puzzle piece within the wheel turned,
Great Mother! All Father! To you we look first
as the wheel turns our fate in blessing or in curse.
 
Together we are one,
A family large in number,
A heartbeat told in song.
 
This is the earth which gives unto us,
This the well that inspiration births,
This is tree at the center of all worlds;
This is the fire ablaze within our souls!
 
 
-          Then we will hop into the lore of the rite which will have slightly theatrical/high energy elements (as Greeks often celebrated Deities individual festivals with great plays and similarly high octane events):
This will have a sung element to be handled by ritual team (to be provided later) which will invoke creation through Khaos, and welcome both Khaos and Phanes.
-          Presentation of the Protogenoi
-          Calling to the local daemons (kindred)
-          Opening of the Gates (Call to Nemesis)
-          Honoring Outsiders (Call to Erebos)
-          Honoring Sacred Earth (Gaea)
-           Introduction of Nyx and Hemera
-          Sacrifices
-          Sharing of the Sacred Wine (Non Alcoholic Version to be served)
-          Omen (Furies and Fates Presiding)
-          Closing of the Gates and thanking all the Deities and Daemons
-          Revels


All these will be elaborated on over the next few days and also the Gods had very specific people in mind for certain roles so I will be contacting those folks via pm here and (if I cannot grab you here) Facebook.

I am extremely excited to be able to do this and definitely am hoping to do the Protogenoi Proud!!!!

So here is a more informed discussion of how the rite is going to progress, what is expected, who is invited and what we hope to accomplish:

-The Prayer behind the Rite:

Thanking Nyx for providing us with endless inspiration in our wintry nights and gifting us Daylight (Hemera) to inspire us to rise above adversity (Erebos and Tartaros)


-Recite the Well, Fire, Tree and Earth chant- this will be done as a group effort like a Greek chorus. I would love for all who attend to get familiar with this chant

-Calling Nemesis to open the gates- John

-Honoring Sacred Earth Gaea.


-Calling the Local Daemons- The daemons are spirits

-Introduction of the Protogenoi and Lore: to be elaborated on 3/3/15

Moon Rite for Nyx,
 
Final Ritual breakdown:
 
v  7:30-7:45 p.m. Ritual Brief
v  8:00 p.m. Ritual starts (there will be a sacred wash that will be sprinkled on you before passing through the cleansing smoke and incense blend) it will contain mint leaves, basil leaves, and bay leaf. Please let the Ritual team know if you are allergic and we’ll make sure you are not splashed.
v  At this time we will process through the Grove Sanctuary carrying the icons, statues, and pre-made offerings for anyone who wasn’t sure what to offer. This will be done to the rhythm of Hozier’s  “Take Me to Church”. Once everyone is seated and the ritual icon bearers have kindly circle 3 times, the icons etc. will be placed at the main altar.
v  I will initiate the Earth, Fire, Well, and Tree Chant this will be done 3 times:

 
v  Then the Avatar of Nemesis (John W.) will walk in and open the gates. Asking the intense Goddess to be our ward.
 
v    Then Debbie will call in Sacred Earth (Gaea).
 
v  Dragon Faerie will call the local Daemones to our space to help and guide.
 
v  The Khaos (Jess) will establish the lore of the ritual. The place a call to her mate and Daughter (Nyx/ Ashley) to become manifest.
 
v  Ashley as Nyx will “birth” the Protogenoi and call them forth to the ritual. Starting w/Erebos (Daniel) and Hemera (Taryn)
 
v  Taryn will banish Erebos to Tartaros to make sure not outsiders intrude.
 
v  Then we will have Khaos take her Daughter and Grandchild take there seats of honor and welcome to preside over sacrifices.
 
v  For the sacrifice portion please  feel free to bring anything that you associate with night:
 
-          Examples : Candles, a favorite dream, a poem or song inspired by Night, or incense.
-          Also you could bring grapes and olives
-          I will have some small offerings prepared for anyone who isn’t sure.

 
v  After Sacrifice we will have the waters of Life w/Gaea(Debbie)  and The Daemones (DragonFaerie) serving the Waters (Non-Alcoholic wine and Water).
v  Then we will have an oracular reading by Khaos assisted by the Fates (Aleja) and the Furies (Marci, Emily?,?) called in by Nyx. I truly need two additional folk for the Furies and if any two ladies could hop in I would be ecstatic.
v  After the omen is read and blessed we will thank all the gods present , we’ll have Nyx and Hemera call the kin forth to revels.

Also I am happy to announce that Kalen will be helping w/taking on the role of one of the Furies. So I have two but need a third.

This rite has been canceled due to complications with the weather. We will reschedule it for warmer months, so keep an eye peeled for the official reschedule. Everything else that's been planned will remain the same.
