Solitary Joint CLG Yule Rite
« on: December 19, 2009, 10:55:45 AM »
We can do this at the same time or individually as folk's schedules permit.  I am thinking the 21st but I also like the idea of getting out for a small rite today in the snow and all.  Maybe both?  ;D

Here is one redition that would would be much shorter than Ian's solitary rite.  Feel free to modify as suits you.

We come from the mountains, the meadows, the moors;
We come from the forest the farms and the fields;
We come from the rivers, the lakes and the seas;
We come  to the Well and the Fire and the Tree

We are shapers of wood,  molders of clay, and we who pull ore from the mines;
We are Warriors; and WiseOnes, and we ride far o'er the plains;
We are families, and elders, and we bring notes from the strings;
We come to the Well and the Fire and the Tree

We come  with our prayers, our pride and our pain
We come  with our hymns, our dancing and joy;
We come  with out hopes and our fears and our dreams
We come to the Well and the Fire and the Tree

 I come here to honor the OldOnes, to keep the bargain and honor the HighDay even though the weather keeps me from my brothers and sisters and from our sanctuary.  As I come to the well and the fire and the tree as the center of all worlds, I honor 1st the Sacred Earth.
(Your words here..... and give sacrifice.
Hail the Sacred Earth!

-Decide whether or not you are going to open the gates and if so insert here.

I honor next the kindred of Earth.  The ancestors...
(Your words here..... and give sacrifice.
The Nature Spirits...
(Your words here..... and give sacrifice.
The Shining Ones...
(Your words here..... and give sacrifice.

Honor Thor and give offering
Honor Odin and give offering
Honor Freya and give offering

Take Omen if you feel the need.
Thank the Gods for their continued blessings
Close the gates if you opened them
Tell the Earth how much you love her

And go inside it's freezing out here

What do you think?

Here is the invitation that I wrote for the ritual:

We come from the land of Ice, Snow and midnight sun
we come from the glaciers, the waterfalls and the mountains with  frosty winds at our back
and We come from the Fjords, the skerries and oceans

(and we come to the well, fire and tree)

We are fisherman, shipbuilders and we pull the metal from the mines
We are warriors, we are wise ones, and we pluck songs from the strings
We are craftsmen, we are peacemakers and we are families

(and we come to the well, fire and tree)

Come with your stories, your songs and your laughter
come with your sorrows, your worries and your cares
bring your children, your loved ones and your friends

(and we come to the well, fire and tree)

I'll be doing one possibly on the deck, but I'm not hobbling out into the woods on a cane.  I may just do one on my main altar, we'll see.  But I'm excited :)

If any folks want to chat online for a while since we're all snowed in, feel free to hop onto gmail.  My username is acousticdryad.

Send me an invite on the left column where it says "chat" and I'll invite you into the chatroom :)

I've been studying  :'(
But shoveled enough of the deck to do my ritual outside about 4:30 ish.
I can't help but think the gods are amused by all this.

I forgot to join with everyone, so I went for a walk in the snow just a little while ago.  It was beautiful.  Christmas lights around Cape Cod houses were glowing from underneath the snow that shimmered like sugar.  SOOOOOOOOOO quiet, only the sound of the wind in the pine trees, a gentle hushing sound.  Except for two people attempting to shovel snow, I was the only one walking about.  I loved it.  I could have stayed out there alot longer.  Didn't have option for outside ritual here.  So my walk was my time with the deities.  Still pondering the words I heard during Journey work and the things I saw.  Been happy all day long.

Snow was over my knees, by the way.  It was fun hiking thru it.  Did a snow angel in my front yard when I got home.  I felt like a kid.  I love snow.

didn't mean to post the ruler pic twice.  One was supposed to be of my dog.  So here he is.  He played in the snow on the deck a little bit but everything else was well over his head.

Here are photos from our "solitary" ritual...which actually included three people. It was really enjoyable-- we had much song, and meaningful silence in between. Taryn and I both made our Dedicant Oaths with success. :)

Photo 1- The space I shoveled snow out of just before the girls got here.
Photo 2- Taryn and Kelly "tweaking" the space
Photo 3- Our offerings table
Photo 4- Taryn's offering for Lugh-- a snowman :D
Photo 5- Snowman for Lugh and the Blustery weather!
Photo 6- "Morrigan" by streetlight. lol.
Photo 7- Eejits
Photo 8- Evidently, my Oath has been sealed. (that's my oath ring to Morrigan)

A lovely, meaningful, improvisational evening, with an honest Omen.

Absolutely beautiful ritual spaces, everyone, and I mean that.  I would love to do that here, but neighbors are too close and husband would freak.  I made my offering to them when I worked up at the Grove on Friday.  My work was my offering.  Not ready for my Dedicant Oath yet, but congratulations on yours, Ash;ey and Taryn.

I did the full ADF  style ritual yesterday.  Messed up the order a little, because I am not used to doing everything myself, but I don't think the Gods minded since my devotion was sincere.  Honored Odin Freya and Thor as originally planned.
