What Can YOU Do To Help Your Grove...

1 Pack up items in center room for painting
2 Move furniture from center room in order for painting.
3 Help relocate Coffey center in parsonage kitchen
4 help move cups and plates into parsonage kitchen
5 help rearrange parsonage tables
6 Help get the trash out of the grove space (books, unnecessary items etc.)
7 Help get the clutter cleaned up outside grove space.
8 Help Paint center room and coffee area
9 Help get the library organized and finished
10 Join the once a week voluntary grass mowing list
11 Pick a garden outside and weed it and maintain it throughout the growing season. (only one)

OK, that should do it.  These are all the things that should be done before Mabon.

I didn't know there WAS a volunteer mowing list to sign up for.  I don't mind mowing.  Its the loading, unloading, loading and unloading a heavy lawnmower that is difficult for me.  However, if someone will be up there to get me to a lawn mower at the Grove, I'd be happy to help mow.

Or I could do the trimming, especially in the front.  I think I will volunteer for that, but Caryn needs to show me again which plants not to touch.  I have a set of sheers in my car since the last time I helped with mowing.

I'd LOVE to help with painting but I work full time during the week except for Fridays when I get off at noon.  Every other weekend (usually) I'm babysitting so I can't be count on for alot.  I'd do more if I could.

I'll be up Friday to trim and weed in the front and depending on how that goes, I'll start in the back.

There's not, it's just that John is no longer mowing and Caryn can't be the only one to mow, so we need to pitch in and help.  Would be nice if we made enough money to hire someone to come mow, but we're not at that point :)

It shouldn't all fall on one person, you are absolutely right.  I know that there are several people who help out as much as they can and a whole bunch who don't do anything at all.

That said, family and job and travel can all play into hinderance of helping.  I live about the same distance as Caryn, but although my husband doesn't give me grief about going up on an occassional Sunday or to a high rite once a month, he'd give me grief if I was up there more often than that on a consistant basis.  I also have my grand daughter to take care of every other weekend usually, and my dog is elderly with Cushings Disease and severe hip displasia, so I like to give him more of my free time also.  Then there is my DP work and reading which I try to do without falling asleep because I am always tired now that I am on medication, and if I sit down, its SO tempting to fall asleep.

These aren't excuses.  I'm just letting people know why I am not doing more like I would like to do, but I will try to do more.

Crystal is right, there should be a sign up list for mowing.  Why not?

Shoot Barry just showed up yesterday and today to mow.  He started the grove's mower for me (my shoulder won't even think about starting a gas mower, I know, I've tried) so I could work on the back while he did the front.

Look at it this way, the members of CedarLight Grove are the owners of our building, therefore each of us has a role and responsibility for its upkeep and care.  Some people can do this in deeds, some people in money, some people in both.  Each person has to find their own balance.  I have been pushing hard to get the upstairs apt renovated because our funds have a finite limit and we are going to need to rent it back out again.  The last thing I want to do is be like Ecumenicon and walk around at every meeting begging for money just so we can pay our bills.

Agreed!  I for one took my membership oath which stated service to the grove, so until I am no longer a member I will serve the grove and its community to the best of my abilities and capabilities.

I agree with you on that, Bennu.
Looks like a beautiful day tomorrow, too.  Not too hot, so I'll be up there to help either with trimming outside or whatever needs done inside.

I volunteer my truck to take the unnecessary items out of the grove--just let me know when and what.

Are there any projects coming up that I could help with? I would like to volunteer my time to the Grove.

We need to finish painting Apt B.  Once that is done, we can start looking at sanding the floors.  I've been really busy but Saturday is a possibility.
