Zoning Hearing Tomorrow
« on: November 26, 2007, 09:55:57 PM »
1PM Room 215 at City Hall

The attorney said that extra folks wouldn't be a problem.

If you decide to come the dress-o-the-day is business casual.  Discretely pagan so to speak.

If you can't come, please feel free to light a candle or say an extra prayer or two.

May our words be inspired by Braggi
And Thor stand beside us in our fight for our Grove
May Tyr look on to see that justice is done
And Frigga see to it that we can get back to the business of Druidry right away.
So Be It!

But how did it feel to you? What sort of "sense" did you get?

I think a good sign was the board looking perplexed and asked "Why are you even here?"  Answer "because the building inspector wrote us a requirement to get a permit."

And they still looked perplexed.  The lawyer did make sure that if nothing else, the fact that it had been proven that the building had been 4 apartments since the early 60's be entered into the record and that it was grandfathered.  That is a good thing.

VICTORY!!!!

I just got off the phone with Will and Mr Burgunder, our attorney.

We are approved as a 4 unit dwelling grandfathered in an R4 Zone & the zoning commision determined that the religious use did not fall under the requirements of a general religious institutions.

We should receive a letter within 6-8 weeks which will have have the actual wording.  Once we get that, someone will have to go downtown and pick up a permit for a 4 dwelling unit grandfathered in an R4 residential zoning area.

Basically they declined to address it cause it was a bit silly but there you are.  This is now one less shoe that could potentially drop in the future.  Now if we decided to but benches in rows inside and a pulpit in the corner...we might have more problems but as it stands...they think if we are crazy enough to stand outside in Feb...well then we're just crazy but mostly harmless.  I think the original problem stems from the inspector thinking that we hold our services inside.  No the inside is just common areas and parsonage.

Will and I were on the phone to the lawyer this morning to ask his help in crafting a standard explanation to be memorized and regurgitated to every building inspector who comes along in the future.  He also said he would write us a letter explaining the commision's determination.

Hussah!!!

Huzzzah.....Glad all worked out well.  I was glad I could be there yesterday...When that lady asked if we actually had services outside in January, it was all I could do not to laugh and say, if you only knew some of the weather conditions we have prayed during... :o ::) ;D

Very glad that all is well once again, in our little corner of the world...
