Recovery efforts in TN after tornado
« on: March 04, 2008, 10:26:45 AM »
Bethann came in last Sunday to tell us about the utter devastation down in TN after the tornado last month.  She is collecting much needed items for the folks down there and will be traveling back down next week.

She passed out a list on Sunday and I don't know what I did with mine but maybe some other folks could fill in the blanks.  Mostly what is needed is food and toiletry items.  I know Will and I have been loading up a box from our pantry and some other folks said they would bring stuff too.  She will be picking this up this coming Sunday at CLG so if you have something please bring it.

Thanks

Yeah I have it, I was going to send out a mass email today and I'll post it here as well.

Canned and boxed foods (Mac and Cheese, Oodles and Noodles, Tuna, Canned Spaghetti, fruit cups etc, boxed rice)

Paper plates

Paper cups

Plastic cutlery

Paper towels

Toilet paper

Cleaning supplies (bleach, windex, etc)

Trash bags

Toiletries (shampoo, soap, lotion, etc)

She says “The tornado was on the ground for 51 minutes and created 52 miles of damage.  Words cannot describe what I saw.  It looked like pictures from other countries that have been devastated by war.  In some cases, I only saw a mailbox to tell me that a house had once been there.  There are heaping piles of debris which were once houses.  17 died in TN and many are in local area hospitals, some of which are in comas."

She says they do not need clothes.
