Lecture on Vedic Religion

Hey all. 

A teacher from the "Institute for Studies in Vedic Sciences" in India is coming to the Balitmore Area next week.  He is willing to give a lecture at the grove.  It would have to be on Sept 23, Tuesday Evening.

It would encompass the FIVE FOLD PATH (Yadna, Dann, Tapa, Karma, Swadhyaya): A holistic Lifestyle for Peace, Prosperity, Health, Happiness and Clean Environment

The lecture will also include information on Adnihotra (sacred Fire). He will demonstrate how holy fire can be performed by everyone with ease on a daily basis. 

It is free.  The goal is to bring this knowledge to as many people as possible because a happy individual lease to a happy society.

I need to know as soon as possible if folks want this to happen and what time.

Actually, the preferred venue would be outside with a small fire.  Don El Fein (sp?) would be perfect for this.

Cool, count me in.  I'll see if my neighbor can join us.  He's been doin' the Agnihotra ritual since I've known him.  Very soothing after a stressful day.  Say good-bye to your worries.

well, it is not a go as of yet however, you have been counted as interested.    I would pass along the invite to folks at Friends School of Baltimore as well and cap attendance at 50. Setting up chairs around Don El Fein (sp?) is not a problem.

Someone with keys to the grove would have to be present and I imagine that the officers would have to make a decision about holding this event. 

Hopefully one of those folks will give it the nod very soon.  I need to let the gentleman know ASAP.

I am all for having this lecture at the Grove.  I will get ahold of John and see if he will be available to open the Grove space for you, so long as you are willing to be responsible for it.

I don't think I could attend, but others on the Witan may want to.  I will see what my schedule permits

I will let the gentleman know and plan on a 6:30PM start time.  I will be able to meet John at the grove at 5:30. 

I will go ahead and invite folks to come. 

I will plan on outside since a mild evening is predicted. I will set up chairs, bring torches with citronella oil and light the small fire in Don El Fein (sp?). Is there wood available for that, or should I bring it along as well?

Anyone from the grove who plans on attending, please bring a camp chair if you have one and please RSVP. 

Also, it will be nice to have a small hospitality table.  I will bring a veggie platter. simple desserts,  would be great if you can bring one.

Well, I would imagine that if at High Rite on Saturday, we don't have someone willing to open the grove; I could beg and grovel to be lent  keys for a couple of days.

Chelsea, please tell folks that we will be passing the hat (cauldron) for CLG.

How long is this likely to go? I'm interested, but getting from Reston to Baltimore that time of day is a bit of a logistical challenge.

Sounds interesting, though work will prevent me from attending.

I'm wondering though...in the event of bad weather, where will y'all put fifty people? (Of course, it's quite likely that there will be fewer than fifty, but just in case? I'm remembering Imbolc 2006 and cramming 'em all in there....and that was fewer than fifty people. It was what, 35?

I planned  on making introductions at the beginning thanking folks for coming, explaining who CLG and ADF are.  Announcing that although the lecture is free , CLG is providing hospitality and donations would be greatly appreciated.

I wanted to make sure that we have the flyers set out on the hospitality table as well.

I believe that Rebecca was going to bring a friend as well.

I don't think that 50 will be there either but if you set a high cap on attendance, it seems to make people think "only 50, I better RSVP".  The weather looks good for the extended forcast but in case of bad weather, I was thinking that the Dr could lecture from the middle of the 2 rooms and folks could sit on either side.  I would bring in chairs and set up rows to make it a wee bit more organized.
