Oddly enough, I received a bulletin from the City regarding Trash collection today. I assume there is a copy in all our mailboxes. It says that Trash collection services are changing, then says to watch for future announcements on those changes. Some things of note that are mentioned in the bulletin:
1. No more than Two 32gal. cans per address
2. Cans must be made of a Durable material and have tight fitting lids.
3. Cans must be placed between 8pm and 6am the evening before pickup.
It goes on about not putting trash bags on the street, blocking sidewalks, alleys, etc. mostly common sense stuff. I then went to the website and researched Baltimore City Codes just to get a bit more in-depth information.

I currently have one 32gal. Rubbermaid Heavy-Duty can with a locking lid to prevent wind or vermin from getting into it. Baltimore City Codes say that a trash receptacle must be made of metal or other durable material. I prefer the plastic as it doesn't dent, crush, go out-of-round, or become otherwise unusable if hit by a car or blown down the road.
3. Cans must be placed between 8pm and 6am the evening before pickup.
Once there are receptacles that are used for the Grove only, I will place them at the curb for pickup at the allowable times.
The reason I say this is because there was one last bit of information in the City's notice.
Citations of $50 and Fines up to $500 can be levied for each violation. While I doubt that we would be likely to receive a $500 fine just for placing the Groves cans out 8hours early, why take the chance.
I will post further information as it is received.
