Hi All,

The Moon Rite for Nyx and the Protogenoi has been moved to the 18th of July.
I will be re-posting the information in this new thread below.
Everyone who was contacted (whether you were a "yes" or a "no") to work as ritual team for this event please sound off if available for the rescheduled event on the 18th of July 2015.

The time table has been moved up a bit to make it easier and more feasible with people who have a long drive home or who will be staying over for the 25th birthday celebration for CLG the next day.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you.

Hello All!

On July 18th, 2015 we will be hosting a Moon Rite honoring some of the deities nearest and dearest to my heart...The Nyx Greek Goddess of Night and her Extended family the Protogenoi!

Who exactly are the Protogenoi?

They are the Gods and Goddesses that preceded the universe of the Greek Olympian Deities.
They are the progenitors, the rawest potentiality and some of the original Peloponnese creators.
The first and most essential of these great eternals is Khaos.

Khaos is, as you may have guessed the Goddess whose name was transformed over the decades to our modern cognate Chaos  but she is so much more than what our modern concept conveys. Khaos  was infinite potential from which all could burst forth.
Khaos is an air deity.

From Khaos came her mate Phanes, also know as Protognos or first born (and from whom all the Protogenoi take their name). Phanes is consideredthe primal progenitor and great father.

Next Khaos bears Nyx, the Greek goddess who embodies night and the primary guest at our rite.

Nyx is the embodiment of Night, mother of Darkness (Erebos) and mother to Daylight (Hemera).

I will be posting more updates regarding the rite as we draw closer to the date.
If you want to learn more about all the protogenoi check out the link below:

http://www.theoi.com/greek-mythology/primeval-gods.html

This event will start at 7:00 p.m.

Please find the Ritual outlined below and please note there will be a journey to meet the deity  and I would encourage all those interested in participating to join in this journey to be held  by the end of June (hard date TBA later):

Nyx and Protogenoi Moon Rite (7/18/15) Official Event Outline:

ยท         As per the Greek Deity Festival tradition I would like the Moon Rite to proceed as follows:

-          Would like to suggest that all attendees wear only the following colors in honor of our guests: either all White or all Black clothing.
-          Procession with Nyx Representative Statue, and Protogenoi iconography.
-          Musical accompaniment will be played for the procession and will be setting an initial calm and meditative tone.
-          Recite the Well, Fire, Tree and Earth chant provided below as a centering and grounding exercise:

Earth, Fire, Well, & Tree Chant

This is the earth which gives unto us,
This the well that inspiration births,
This is tree at the center of all worlds,
This is the fire ablaze within our souls!

Together they are one,
Together they are us,
Each a puzzle piece within the wheel turned,
Great Mother! All Father! To you we look first
as the wheel turns our fate in blessing or in curse.

Together we are one,
A family large in number,
A heartbeat told in song.

This is the earth which gives unto us,
This the well that inspiration births,
This is tree at the center of all worlds;
This is the fire ablaze within our souls!

-          Then we will hop into the lore of the rite which will have slightly theatrical/high energy elements (as Greeks often celebrated Deities individual festivals with great plays and similarly high octane events):
This will have a sung element to be handled by ritual team (to be provided later) which will invoke creation through Khaos, and welcome both Khaos and Phanes.
-          Presentation of the Protogenoi
-          Calling to the local daemons (kindred)
-          Opening of the Gates (Call to Nemesis)
-          Honoring Outsiders (Call to Erebos)
-          Honoring Sacred Earth (Gaea)
-           Introduction of Nyx and Hemera
-          Sacrifices
-          Sharing of the Sacred Wine (Non Alcoholic Version to be served)
-          Omen (Furies and Fates Presiding)
-          Closing of the Gates and thanking all the Deities and Daemons
-          Revels

Thanks Debbie!!!

I will also be getting into the meat and bones of the Ritual  tomorrow.
I am really excited about explaining all the work going into the Grounding and what we will be doing as the oracular aspect as Greek rites should have the oracular aspect by virtue of the Greek hearth culture itself :) .

So upcoming topics:

-How to deal with Primordial Forces.

-What are acceptable offerings.

-Why is Welcoming the Night back into the world important?

-How is the rite going to progress from start to finish and what is expected of the Ritual folks :)

-The Journey to meet the Gods ( Date and Time TBA)

-Why is oracular work central to a Greek rite in the Orphic tradition.

So this is the basic meat and potatoes we'll be working with. So get your engines primed cause this will be crazy (labor-wise) and hopefully awesome!

Hi - Aleja posting as Scott, as per always.

I am still totally in, still totally willing to do all three Fates if you want me to, and I already have things written up for them because I was being super prepared last time...

And Scotty already has rocks and stones and crystals for grounding and I think he even had a rough draft of a grid he was previously discussing with John?  But I'm sure they can figure that out again.

Also - being as how this is Scotty's account, if he doesn't tell me that he got an email about a reply, I won't necessarily see it, so if I go more than, say, 2 days without responding, please poke me on FB - those messages end up on my phone and I shouldn't miss them for more than two HOURS unless I'm asleep, lol.

I'm in as well. I also second the poking on FB for me. Looking forward to details. Also, if we want to make plans that involve art, I need to know all the things a minimum of two weeks in advance. With school and packing and giving away my things, I need to make sure to retain and keep accessible any items I may need.

I know we talked about me doing an art that resonates with trees, Gaea, ... this I can definitely do and I am thinking using my inks I made from the black walnuts again.

Also, can I dedicate this art to the Gods and gift it to the grove (happy CLG day!)? And if so, is there a size restriction because I was thinking about 22 x 30.

Also. Hugs. I have them. And they are free and unlimited.

That would actually be nice size on the wall near the Greek altar in parlor room.

Emily- That sounds like a reasonable size.  I mainly (and we'll talk more in person as well)  wanted a piece that reflects the nature spirits or as the Hellenic folks would have us call this kindred- Daemones.

I also will be posting some additional info after tomorrow as I want to try and set up the Journey for next Sunday.

Hi All,

We will be having a journey to meet the Gods for the rite on  Sunday June 28th,2015. This will be immediately after the reflections of Midsummer 2015. There will be a second journey the following Sunday which is the 5th of July as well as a planning session.
Tonight I also wanted to cover some talking points established in the earlier posts; the most important of which is:

Why is welcoming back Night so important?

-Nyx is the Daughter of Khaos (Eternal potential) and Phanes/Protognos (Fertility/Creative impulse, Light) and the Granddaughter of KHRONOS -this has been capitalized as it refers to a deity that is not the Titan Cronos but an early deity who embodied the infite cycles of nature and the cosmos-(Infinity) and Ananke (Inevitability).
While she is the embodiment of Night, she is also the first act of creation which marks inspiration and creative pursuits as her domain long before the Olympian twelve.

Nyx creates her mate Erebos (Darkness), then together they have Hemera (Daylight) who dispells the mists of Night.

Now that we have passed Midsummer we start the journey back to when Nyx's mists hold sway for longer and to welcome her is to welcome the challenges night (and winter nights in MD especially) will bring.

The second talking point I want to address is both pointed at the folks helping make this happen as it to the folks who attend:

-How to deal with Primordial Gods:

-First to answer this question I want to explain what Primordial is (to me anyway). It is the descriptor for the embodiment of the raw forces of the Universe. As such these Gods and Goddesses tend to not mince words and can be a bit blunt and a little more intense than what you might expect from our Olympian, Roman, Celtic, or Norse folk.

-For this reason there will be a grid around the sanctuary and grounding work done with folks who will be calling these forces in.

I am going to post some more information regarding the other talking points tomorrow and welcome anyone to ask any questions in the meantime :)

Hi All,

I was under an incorrect impression and mistakenly claimed three days not actually available for planning. As it has come to my attention that perhaps the Moon Rites are a little less labor intensive, this event is potentially being placed on indefinite hold while I better inform myself of the CLG policy and then proceed if possible or cancel until further notice.

As the reschedule date is so close to the next High Rite it is unfair to ask folks to expend energy on two events that would labor intensive.

Thank you and I'll keep you all posted.

This is probably best tabled for in person discussion. Text format isn't working out well.
