Midsummer 2015 Service Auction
« on: June 19, 2015, 01:54:42 PM »
Hey all!  So very sorry for being late posting this!

For Midsummer's fundraiser, we are doing a Service Auction - rather than bringing things to auction off, we are auctioning off our time, talent and efforts to one another to raise money for the grove.  We all have different skills, abilities and interests, so think of something you can do that you enjoy, and let others bid on it!  Funds for this auction will go first to support the library computer needs and then into general fund.

All services that have been auctioned off should be paid for BEFORE they have been done, and should be completed and handed off to the bidder no later than Samhain 2015.  Please keep these parameters in mind before offering a service - make sure it can reasonably be accomplished in that time frame.

Ideas for what can be auctioned:

- a creative project that can be done to spec for the recipient. Artwork, jewelry, construction, etc, etc.  State the details and boundaries of your offer, and minimum bid (to cover at least the cost of materials).

- labor!  Bid by either number of hours or by task.  Could be yardwork, help with household chores, help working yard sale, cleaning out a closet or basement, babysitting, helping with a party, driving services for someone needing a ride or rides.  Be specific or make it an open 'laborer' and let the winner choose how to use - state any limitations. If you don't do heavy lifting, say so.

- social events.  Auction off a dinner with the number of people of your choosing (each attendee to bid for a slot(s) - highest bidders win)  Can be at your home or out at a restaurant of your choosing, time to be agreed upon by all attending.  Auction off a particular event (game night, wine tasting, etc)

- skills.  You know stuff others may not.  Auction off a divination reading, catering, gardening know-how, reiki or massage session - name it.  You can offer to do it or to teach it.  Be specific about parameters, hours if applicable, etc.  If teaching, specify how many people can bid (for ONE gathering, time and place to be agreed upon by all)

If your offered auction items requires you going to a location (such as helping someone clean their gutters), state any limits on how far you're willing to go.

Auction items should be listed today here or tomorrow (Midsummer) at the Grove, and silent bidding will start at the Grove tomorrow and remain open until next Sunday. (I will post all bids that happen tomorrow here so people can continue to bid in the forum until next Sunday without needing to attend next week.)

Those who bid services should get together with their winners no later than a week after the auction closes to set up the details, and all winners should pay for their auction items BEFORE the service has been begun or rendered.  Auction bids can be paid at the Grove by giving it to a Witan member (clearly specifying what it is for), into the Cauldron clearly labeled, or via Paypal - again CLEARLY labeled in the notes section. "Service Auction bid for XXX service from (person doing the service)  Once payment is received, I will msg the service provider that they have the greenlight to go. Please do not delay payment beyond the point where it will be possible to complete the service prior to the Samhain deadline.

Once it's underway or accomplished, please let me know so I can keep track of it.  I will send out reminders mid-September for any outstanding items that still need to be completed.

If I'm missing any critical detail, please let me know - otherwise let the games begin!  I will list offerings I know about in the following comment, and anyone choosing to offer an auction service, list it here. Thanks!

If we need any more services to auction (10 is quite a lot so I was hesitant to speak up), let me know.
I've got photography sessions or personalized prayer beads to offer.

We had a few auction entries last night, which give us a total of 17 service auction opportunities, several with multiple winners!  Thank you so much to everyone who offered their time and talents for this, and to everyone who will contribute their treasure by bidding on these!

This is the full list - bidding will happen in this thread throughout the week.
To bid, list the #, name and service provider, and then your bid amount and name (please post actual name rather than just your forum UserName, as I don't always know who that is).  I will update this list as the bids are updated.  Bidding may also happen by msging me in FB (Lynda England Hardy) for those that find posting here difficult.

Bidding will remain open until after WWtOO next Sunday (Jul 28) - attendees will have a last opportunity to bid in person at the Grove.  After closing, I will match up those who have donated services with those who have won them.

Nonmembers can bid - all bids MUST be paid to the Grove before the service has been provided.  If you are not in the local area, please do not bid on items that require you to be here.  No alcohol will be mailed, so those items require you to be local for transfer.

Also, can you update my description, it's not a massage nor am I a massage therapist so I don't want any confusion. dōTERRA's AromaTouch Technique is a clinical approach to applying essential oils along energy meridians and visceral contact points of the back and feet to help balance sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems of the body.
